If your right eye
causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away.
Excuses for bad
behavior are not acceptable. .
The God who made us
knows that we are capable of making the right choice in any given situations.
It’s not the Devil who
makes us do it. It is not our culture. It is not peer pressure. It’s not our
work environment. It is not our genetics. It is not our right eye—if it were,
we would certainly pluck it out (to have a bodily appendage taking control of our
actions would be a plot for a Stephen King novel.)
We all do sin. We all
fall short of the glory of God. But we need to fess up, confess up; repent and
seek forgiveness.
Then, the next time a
similar temptation comes up, we need to think—do I really need to do this?
